Beer Braised Brats + Onions
Juicy bratwurst sausages are braised in brew along with browned onions in this hearty recipe.
Brats and onions can be served on your favorite buns or otherwise as desired like with mashed potatoes! Any IPA will work well with these ingredients.

- 2 tbsp Napa Valley Naturals Avocado Oil, divided
- 5 Johnsonville Original Bratwursts
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Pinch salt and pepper
- 1 tsp Bornier Organic Dijon Mustard
- 12 oz Rebuen’s Brew Summer IPA
- Franz Hot Dog Buns, to serve
Directions
Sear the Bratwursts
Heat 1 tbsp avocado oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add the bratwursts. Sear the bratwursts until browned and charred, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.Brown the Onions
Add the remaining 1 tbsp avocado oil to the skillet. Add the onion and cook for 10-15 minutes, until browned and mostly tender. Add the garlic and a pinch of salt and pepper and cook for another 2-3 minutes.Add the Beer
Add the dijon and beer and stir to combine. Add the bratwursts back to the pan and bring to a boil.Braise the Bratwursts
Cover, reduce the heat, and simmer for 10-15 minutes or until the sausages are cooked completely through, rotating the sausages every 3-5 minutes. Remove the lid and let cook for another 5 minutes to let any excess alcohol evaporate.Serve & Enjoy!
Serve warm in buns or otherwise as desired!
